Queen Elizabeth II knighted a 100-year-old veteran on Friday after he raised millions for coronavirus relief, reports Global News.
She knighted Tom Moore with the sword her father used to own after Moore raised money by walking 100 laps around his garden. Moore ended up raising $40 million in April which he put towards the National Health Service.
Moore used his walker to make his way towards the monarch. He was not required to knee before the Queen though he was knighted in a traditional fashion with a sword tap.
The ceremony took place outside of Windsor Castle where Queen Elizabeth has been staying with her husband amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Thank you for all the well wishes, as ever, overwhelmed by your support. #todaywillbeagoodday” tweeted Moore before the ceremony.
