Toronto Police are on the lookout for a ground of up to 10 men, one armed with a machete that attacked, robbed and stabbed a 15-year-old boy in downtown Toronto last night. The boy was found suffering from multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital where he is stable.
The boy was near Bay and Dundas streets at 12:13 am when police were called to the scene of an apparent robbery, according to CP24. Police still do not know where exactly the boy was stabbed or what lead up to the event.
Police say they suspect a group of up to 10 men may be responsible for the robbery as the group was scene running down Dundas street shortly after the incident. No description has been released about anyone in the group, besides that one carried a machete.
The 15-year-old boy was listed as in serious but not life-threatening condition at the hospital. Police suspect this was a type of robbery called "swarming" where a large group swarm one or more victims in an attempt to overwhelm the victim with a show of force.
52 Division of the Toronto Police Service is investigating the stabbing. 52 Division is the same division that is mourning the loss of constable Jeffrey Northrup who was killed after being intentionally struck by a car in an underground parking garage.
