15-year-old girl and adult male arrested in Ontario human trafficking investigation

A 15-year-old female and a 33-year-old male suspect were arrested in a human trafficking investigation, Durham Police said in a statement.

A 15-year-old female and a 33-year-old male suspect were arrested in a human trafficking investigation, Durham Police said in a statement.

According to the news release, a human trafficking investigation started at a Oshawa hotel where a 16-year-old female was "was being trafficked for sexual services within the Greater Toronto Area."

"With the assistance of Waterloo Regional Police and Guelph Police Services, a 33-year-old male, and a 15-year-old female were arrested and they are facing numerous human-trafficking charges," the statement says.

Police say that Nicholas Hill, 33, of Mississauga, s has been charged with the following: "Trafficking In Persons Under 18 Years by Exercising Control; Permit Person Under 18 Years of Age on Premise for Prohibited Sexual Activity x2; Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided by Person Under 18 Years; Advertising Another Person's Sexual Services; Procuring / Exercising Control Over Person Under 18 and Financial/Material Benefit Trafficking Person Under 18."

The 15-year-old female of Toronto, was charged with: Trafficking in Persons Under 18 Years by Exercising Control; Advertising Another Person's Sexual Services; Procuring / Exercising Control Over Person Under 18 and Financial/Material Benefit Trafficking Person Under 18 and Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided by Person Under 18 Years.

They were both held for a bail hearing.
