Over $400,000 in COVID infraction tickets were handed out to anti-lockdown protestors in Montreal on Sunday.

According to The Canadian Press, 269 infractions of $1,546 were handed out. The march, which was dubbed the "Mega Rassemblement Familial Noel" (Mega Family Christmas Gathering,) saw demonstrators march from the office of Quebec Premier Francois Legault, concluding two kilometres east near Lafontaine Park.

Event organizers say roughly 1,000 people were in attendance.

The so-called "ticket blitz" was the end result of a big revenue week for the Montreal police force, who handed out 353 tickets, received 530 health-infraction related calls, inspected two bars, 3686 businesses, and 107 sites.

"The invitation is for ALL families in Quebec wishing to celebrate TOGETHER a CHRISTMAS unlike any other that will remain etched in our hearts forever," organizers wrote on the Facebook event.

"IMPORTANT NOTE: The organizers remind you of the measures mentioned in the public health decree: wearing a face cover (scarf, mask, etc.) and 2 meters distance between the demonstrators. We want to avoid any remission of tickets, so that the family event Save Christmas Together is a Grandi-Ose success. Everyone is free and responsible for his person."

The Suburban reports that multiple arrests also occurred, including a mother with three young children.
