With the Taliban entering the capital city of Kabul, and the president of the US Coalition-backed government fleeing to exile in Tajikistan, Afghanistan's return to Taliban control is all but guaranteed.

As 82nd Airborne Division works desperately to evacuate remaining American diplomatic staff and citizens from the country in dramatic scenes reminiscent of the fall of Saigon, an exasperated Jim Jordan did not hold back on his criticism of President Joe Biden.

"First thing's first, why is Joe Biden on vacation? Why hasn't his administration taken a single question? This is an embarrassment," said Jordan.

The speed of Afghanistan's security collapse exceeded even the worst-case American intelligence assessments, prompting the US Embassy in Kabul to issue a security alert: "The security situation in Kabul is changing quickly including at the airport.  There are reports of the airport taking fire; therefore we are instructing U.S. citizens to shelter in place."

The haste of the expedited American withdrawal from Afghanistan is also expected to leave hundreds of Afghan interpreters and their families stranded in Kabul, and in grave personal danger as the Taliban has a history of targeting and executing those they see as 'traitorous' to their Islamist cause.

As the situation grows more desperate, footage has emerged of hundreds of people boarding C-17 Hercules transport planes before the Taliban can close the last remaining significant airport not under Taliban control.

The Biden Administration intended to complete the unconditional withdrawal from one of America's longest military entanglements by the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, but had to expedite that timeline due to how rapidly the security situation in the country began to deteriorate.

With the country now set to return to Taliban hands, it could once again become a safe haven for terrorist organizations like the Islamic State and al-Qaeda, from which they may once again plan attacks against Europe and the United States.
