After ceasefire, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib accuse Israel of 'war crimes'

It was the country of Egypt that coordinated a truce between Israel and Gaza after roughly two weeks of clashes in the Middle East.

President Joe Biden's diplomatic charisma seems to be lacking in comparison with the successful Middle East dealings of his predecessor on this issue.

The current stance of the United States seems to stand at the middle ground on the Israel topic: the White House is willing to send money to both Netanyahu's people as well as the other side.

It's this impasse that Washington finds itself in the midst of debate. As pointed out by The Daily Wire, progressive Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilham Omar of the congressional "The Squad" fame are vocally anti-Israel in terms of suggestions about how America responds to this most recent conflict.

Neither of them believes ceasefires are enough. Both Omar and Tlaib protested the sales of weapons to Israel in the days beforehand.

"We should all be grateful that a ceasefire will prevent more civilians and children from being killed. But now what? We need accountability for every war crime committed. And we need to stop underwriting crimes against humanity while doing nothing to end the occupation," Omar tweeted Thursday night.

Both in the past and on this present issue, Omar drew the IRE of the AIPAC lobbyist group. Another tweet that refers to instances of what Omar thinks are "war crimes" need to be taken into account with the intelligence Israel had about Hamas activities. Especially when it comes to the media building, as there was a previous known history of Hamas working on the premises.

"A ceasefire is necessary, but will not alone achieve freedom, justice, and equality for all who live under Israel's apartheid government," Tlaib also tweeted Thursday evening. "The U.S. must condition funding to uphold human rights, and end the funding entirely if those conditions are not met."

Tlaib's remarks on Twitter make it clear she sees Israel as an enemy nation. She was also furious at the news that the US blocked a UN Security Council statement urging a ceasefire earlier on in the fighting between Israel and Gaza.
