There will now be mandatory temperature checks for passengers boarding Air Canada flights, according to FreshDaily.
The airline made the announcement through a press release on Monday.
Other measures were released by the airline through its new CleanCare+ program. The program was brought on to “reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.”
Air Canada is the first North American airline to introduce the preflight temperature checks. The checks will be made through an infra-red procedure that is non-invasive.
More new measures include:
- Extra space in Economy Class; the airline will have a cap on the amount of seats available for every flight.
- Mandatory PPE for employees
- Personal care kits
- Electrostatic cabin spraying
The measures will be brought in by May 15, 2020
Air Canada’s President and CEO, Calin Rovinescu said, “With Air Canada CleanCare+, we are introducing a comprehensive new program to give each customer added assurance for their well-being throughout all stages of their journey.”
He added that the airline will add to the program as they go and may eventually implement things like blood oxygen testing.
