A group of almost 200 fitness related businesses will open their doors on Thursday and defy the province's lockdown restrictions.

These gyms, yoga and dance studios, and martial arts businesses have called for the end of the lockdown that forced them to close on October 8.

Many of the companies made significant investments to comply with the past restrictions before being told to completely stop operations.

The group told the Toronto Star that if the Quebec government can demonstrate by Thursday that their operations have led to outbreaks then they will stand down.

The initial lockdown will come to an end on Wednesday, but Premier Legault hinted that some restrictions would remain in place for Montreal and Quebec City.

Premier Legault, Health Minister Christian Dube and Dr. Horacio Arruda, Quebec's director of public health, are speaking to media later today.
