TMZ recently caught up with American singer and songwriter Khalid, known for the song Better. The outlet asked the musician what he thought of how fast-moving developments in AI (Artificial Intelligence) have enabled the smart technology to create music.

"I realize AI is all the rage now," TMZ asked, later adding, "what do you think about it? Do you care if anyone used your voice and created their own song?" Khalid responded, "Um, definitely. I have mixed feelings about it. I feel like AI is definitely going to be a helpful tool. And it's one of those things that you can't escape. Hopefully, you know, hopefully I get to still have my job for a long time."

"Would you want to like work in AI in your own gig?" TMZ asked.

"Nah," Khalid replied. "I feel like it takes away, like, the authenticity and that's something that I really value about myself."

The interviewer ended by asking if the artist would want to use AI to create the simulacra of a performance with a dead performer. "Nobody," he answered.

"I appreciate the legends for who they are," he added.

Recent developments in AI, especially in chatbots such as ChatGPT, have brought the technology closer to more human-like behavior, such as writing code for a different AI bot, passing the bar exam in the top 10 percent, and tricking a human so that it could pass a CAPTCHA test designed to weed out programs posing as humans.

AI recently created a song in the style of Drake and the Weeknd that had people convinced it was from the artists, reports CNN.

AI programs are expected to impact at least part of work tasks in roughly 80 percent of all jobs in the US in the coming years, according to a new study published by ChatGPT developer OpenAI and the University of Pennsylvania.
