Antifa prevents Seattle police from solving CHAZ shooting

At least two people were shot during an incident inside Seattle's Capitol Hill "autonomous zone" (CHAZ/CHOP) early Saturday morning.

“Homicide detectives are investigating following a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning at 10th Avenue and East Pine Street,” the Seattle Police Department’s Public Affairs office said. “One man was declared deceased at the hospital and another male is being treated for life-threatening injuries.”

Seattle officers responded to reports of gunfire within CHAZ early Saturday morning, which is a "no-cop zone." Officers "attempted to locate a shooting victim but were met by a violent crowd that prevented officers safe access to the victims," the department wrote, according to the Daily Caller.

"Officers were later informed that the victims, both males, had been transported to Harborview Medical Center by CHOP medics," according to the announcement. The victims were reported to have been taken to the medical center by volunteers.

Raz Simone, the so-called "warlord" of the autonomous zone complained on Twitter that city paramedics "refused to help even after people in CHOP begged." EMTs were unable to enter the area because police were unable to secure it.

A spokeswoman for Mayor Durkan told Seattle Times that the Mayor's office is closely communicating with the city's police and fire departments.

“The primary duty of the SFD and SPD is to ensure public safety in all parts of the city,” said Nyland.

The perpetrators have not been apprehended, according to the police.

“Homicide detectives responded and are conducting a thorough investigation, despite the challenges presented by the circumstances,” police said.
