AOC attacks FOX News host by citing debunked chloroquine story

Perhaps AOC can be forgiven, after all she’s way more in touch with the ins and outs of identity politics than she is matters of medical urgency.

It all started with a typical identity politics tweet by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-9) in which the young Democrat congresswoman claimed “COVID relief should be drafted with a lens of reparations” and basically claiming that the virus that has infected over a million people worldwide is racist.

The COVID-19 coronavirus has been a danger to every community it has infiltrated, and every western nation is currently putting all of their effort in every sector of the global economy into working to contain the spread. But sure, let’s make this a victimization identity thing.

Mocking AOC, FOX News’ Laura Ingraham quipped “The Doctor of Mixology will save us!”

This led the New York rep to accuse the FOX host of spreading misinformation about hydroxychloroquine, the antimalarial drug that has been touted by President Trump and independent doctors from around the world as a possible effective treatment for those with coronavirus.

AOC slapped back at Ingraham, discounting Ingraham’s credibility by saying that she featured a doctor on her show who advocated for the potential use of hydroxychloroquine to treat the COVID-19 coronavirus. Politicians and pundits on the left have been quick to discredit the use of the drug, simply on the ground that President Trump has recommended it.

To hold up her view that the drugs are bunk, she shared an article from NBC that repeated the now-debunked story of a married couple ingesting the drug leading to the death of the husband and a grieving widow pleading with the American people to not “believe anything that the President says and his people.”

Yeah. Well, about that: the woman in question and her now-deceased husband did not ingest hydroxychloroquine—the antimalarial agent that has shown promise as a treatment for cases of COVID-19. They ate fish tank cleaner.

The story unraveled days ago as it was revealed not only that the couple had ingested fish tank cleaner, but also that the woman who survived was a virulent anti-Trump activist and not the naive, desperate Trump follower she pretended to be.

Even more disturbing information about the woman has come to light including allegations of domestic violence against the woman.

Whether the new speculation regarding this woman pans out, it is true that she is a long standing supporter for the Democratic party. Over the past few years, she donated to “Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and EMILY's List, a group that aims to elect pro-choice female candidates.” She had claimed to have taken the cleaner as a means to cure coronavirus and because the president told her to, but it appears now that she did it to discount the president.

As for the matter of hydroxychloroquine, doctors throughout the world have rated it the most effective treatment for COVID-19 to date.

The level of partisan bickering right now in both media and between party politicians is in large part to blame for the scourge of misinformation that is keeping the populace confused, isolated, and left largely to their own devices. Perhaps AOC can be forgiven, after all she’s way more in touch with the ins and outs of identity politics than she is matters of medical urgency.
