Those who wish to hunt in Saskatchewan's big game hunt will have to apply before midnight of May 1 to join, according to CTV News.
“The 2020 Big Game Draw Supplement provides Saskatchewan resident hunters with information on seasons and quotas for draw species, as well as advance notice of any changes to this fall's regular big game seasons,” according to the province's latest press release.
Considering the rather mild winter the province had, additional hunting opportunities will be made available for pronghorn, elk, white tail and mule deer.
“Changes remain in place to the big game draw pool system, which expanded the draw from four to six priority pools in 2018. The majority of applicants who qualified for the Legacy pool in 2019 were successfully drawn and the number of hunters moving from the Super A pool to Legacy pool remains low," according to the provincial government.
Applications can only be submitted online due to the Ministry of Environment office being closed for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Saskatchewan Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence (HAL) system is responsible for managing the big game draw.
Applications may be submitted through hunter's accounts, there they can also access their pool status history, purchase a draw license and review and update their applications as needed.
