Arson charges have been laid against a 38-year-old man after a house explosion in East York last week left many people injured, CP24 reports.
The explosion happened at a home in the Woodbine and Lumsden Avenue area Friday around 5 pm.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and located a fire in the basement of the home. Images show that the house’s windows and doors had been blown out.
Everyone who was inside the home had managed to escape safely, however police say that several people suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has since been called to investigate. It was confirmed by police on Monday that they have charged a man in connection to the explosion.
38-year-old Johnathan Nicholson is now facing two counts of arson and disregard for human life. The investigation is still ongoing.
