The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is advising Americans to not travel across its northern border into Canada over a rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Due to Canada's rising coronavirus cases, the CDC chose to elevate Canada's warning level to "Level Four: Very High." The updated travel recommendation now instructs Americans to avoid travel to its northern neighbour as Canada remains one of the top foreign destinations for travelling Americans.

According to Reuters, the CDC currently lists about 80 destinations around the world at Level Four. It also raised the island of Curaçao to Level Four on Monday.

Canada currently is dealing with the Omicron variant, as are many countries. New cases in the country's two most populous provinces—Ontario and Quebec—remain hovering around the 10,000 mark, though due to Omicron's high reproductivity cogent, the number of new infections is likely much higher.
