A crazy man with a baseball bat caused havoc in Manhattan on Saturday evening, during a rampage that involved assaulting subway passengers and car-jackings, police say.

Suspect Bryan Thompson, 43, of Atlantic City, NJ, reportedly injured 10 people during his violence spree that began at around 6:35 pm and ranged from Tribeca to Chelsea, the New York Post reports.

"He was a one-man crime spree," one police source said.

He reportedly began his rampage in the uptown No. 2 train platform. A 39-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man and a 57-year-old man who was reportedly beaten unconscious are listed among some of his victims.

His victims reported being battered with a "wooden weapon." Police say his assaults were unprovoked.

Thompson moved on from the train platform to attack a 39-year-old woman and then a 39-year-old man who fled his SUV during the assault. Thompson then reportedly drove away in the victim's vehicle, according to police.

Thompson sped the SUV into two parked cars near Sixth Avenue and Laight Street, then crashing the vehicle. After the crash, Thompson reportedly attempted another carjacking of a 2006 Ford Taurus. After little success stealing the Ford, Thompson moved on to try to car jack a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a 32-year-old female driver instead. This attempt was also unsuccessful, though the driver caught smashed glass in her eye from the encounter.

Thompson ran off again to attack two more people, breaking a Texas man's arm and badly bruising another woman.

In another attempt at a carjacking Thompson was successful, stealing a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a parked male driver.

Thompson was finally stopped after reportedly smashing the jeep into a police car. NYPD had to use tasers to subdue Thompson after he refused to cooperate and exit the car.

"He's been charged with all these incidents, but obviously they have to send him in for a psych evaluation first," a police source explained.
