A British Columbia woman has been charged after failing to self-isolate and proceeding to visit a Cape Britain brewery, causing the business to temporarily close, reports CTV News.
A complaint was made to Inverness District RCMP on Monday that a woman was not abiding by the Nova Scotia Health Protection Act. A 38-year-old woman was then charged for violating the act and received a $1,000 fine.
The brewing company in Inverness, N.S., was made aware of the visit which took place on Sunday and closed the facility on Monday. Route 19 Brewing will be closed until further notice.
Public health officials reportedly informed the brewery that customers who were in the taproom on Sunday do not have to self-isolate, but should watch for symptoms. If they experience coronavirus symptoms they should call 811.
According to Route 19, the taproom was sanitized and cleaned on Monday. Staff at the facility are working alongside public health authorities to decide when it can reopen.
Residents are asked to contact the non-emergency line of their local police department if they intend to report a Health Protection and Emergency Management act violation.
People travelling to Nova Scotia are required to spend 14 days in self-isolation upon arrival.
