A cocaine bust in Belleville, Ontario has led police to seize hundreds of thousands of dollars in cocaine, cash, and other property, Global News reports.

Police seized $200,000 worth of cash, $40,000 in cocaine, and a $40,000 GMC Sierra truck.

Sheldon Wood, 31, and Tammy Wood, 52, were charged with cocaine trafficking and possession of proceeds from criminal activity. Both of them are from Belleville.

Officers searched a number of homes in Belleville as part of an operation known as "Project Renewal." The project began in late 2020.

The same operation led to various other drug busts throughout December and January which included the seizure of cocaine, methamphetamines, and fentanyl.

Drug overdoses and deaths have skyrocketed in Ontario since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020.
