Failed presidential candidate Bernie Sanders endorsed Canada's New Democrats and its leader, Jagmeet Singh, in a post to his social media on Friday.
"Canada goes to the polls Monday," wrote Sanders. "There's one party that stood up for working people in the pandemic. One leader who has the courage to make the wealthy pay their fair share so everyone gets the medication they need. That's why I support the @NDP and @theJagmeetSingh," the tweet concludes.
Sanders' tweet is the latest in a string of political endorsements by US politicians to Canada's federal party leaders.
Yesterday, former President Barack Obama wished his "friend" Justin Trudeau luck in the coming election. On Monday, former Secretary of State and failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton endorsed Trudeau.
Trudeau and Opposition leader Erin O'Toole have remained in a statistical dead-heat, as of Friday's polls, with the Liberals currently more likely to form another minority government. The Singh-lead NDP are looking to gain on a lowly 24 seats on Monday.
