The White House National Security Council has requested the Department of Homeland Security what number of Haitian migrants would force the US to designate a third country, which is described as a "lily pad" to help process Haitian migrants, and what number would overwhelm the third country that would then force the US to house Haitians at Guantanamo Bay.
Guantanamo Bay has a Migrant Operations Center that is separate from the prison for terrorist suspects. The US has plans to double the capacity of the Migrant Operations Center to 400 beds, the document says.
NBC reports that "In late September, violent gangs seeking to overturn Haiti’s government staged a land blockade of the country’s main fuel supply point, blocking fuel from leaving the depot and thwarting the hopes of those seeking to leave the country by boat."
The Biden regime has said that Haitian migrants could flee en mass after gas is no longer blocked and they are able to buy gas to power small boats.
The Biden administration has already fumbled previous Haitian migrant influxes. In September 2021, more than 12,000 Haitians were forced to stay under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas. Many of the migrants left Haiti to seek refuge in South and Central America and crossed into the US after economic opportunities dried up in Latin America.
A spokesperson for the NSC said: "The United States remains committed to supporting the people of Haiti. We recently delivered Haitian government-purchased security equipment, including tactical and armored vehicles and supplies, that will assist the Haitian National Police in their fight against criminal actors inciting violence."
