Migrants who were deported under the Trump administration for not attending their court proceedings in the “Remain-in-Mexico” program can now enter the US and try again.

According to a new report from CBS, this change applies to more than 27,000 immigrants who resided in Mexico to await their court proceedings to start. Activists argued that Mexico’s conditions in of themselves got in the way of potential US-faring migrants to actually travel to America.

(This argument made under the assumption that the prospective migrants were not simply living in the USA illegally already, for years.)

"With these changes, thousands of people will finally be able to seek protection within the United States and leave the nightmare of the past several years behind them," immigration attorney Taylor Levy told the outlet.

DHS Secretary Mayorkas had previously terminated the Remain-in-Mexico program, within the first few days of the Biden administration. More recently, Mayorkas placed blame on the Trump administration for the border crisis that later ensued under Biden’s White House.

However the Far Left in Washington have had bigger ambitions for redefining the US immigration system. AOC late last month motioned to decriminalize illegal immigrants in order to combat “racial profiling.”

This was in the meanwhile that ICE and CBP have had increasing amounts of trouble trying to properly track all the illegal immigrants caught and released into the United States.

In related news today, Vice President Kamala Harris finally announced plans to visit the US - Mexico border. She’ll do so this Friday, June 25th. Days before former President Trump is expected to do a similar tour of the area alongside Texas Governor Greg Abbot.

In response to questions from reporters today, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said it was now the “appropriate time.” Earlier this month NBC’s Lester Holt grilled Kamala Harris having avoided visiting the border for so long.
