Biden's 'rescue plan' gives $825k to unemployed anti-racist oral historians

"Oral Historians" doing the work in anti-racism and other leftist philosophies were awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars from the American Rescue Plan, a Biden Administration package that was passed under the auspices of Covid-19 relief.

Fox News reports that "$825K in American Rescue Plan funds" went to "'under/unemployed oral historians' and their research related to studies in anti-racism and Indigenous and "Latinx histories."

President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion spending bill, or "The American Rescue Plan," passed in March 2021 with no Republican support. Biden said the bill was designed to stimulate the economy which was languishing under Covid-19 shutdowns and restrictions.

A closer analysis has revealed the taxpayer-funded bill has sent money to a variety of contentious causes unrelated to the coronavirus such as funding Critical Race Theory in schools.

The American Rescue Plan awarded $135 million to The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and it awarded smaller amounts to fringe groups such as The Oral History Association, which received $825,000 for a grant-making project titled "Diversifying Oral History Practice: A Fellowship Program for Under/Unemployed Oral Historians."

The fellowship grants $60k to "Oral historians from communities which have been historically marginalized in the field (such as Indigenous peoples, people of color, people with disabilities, and working-class people."

Fox News provides some examples of the eleven awardees, such as Colette Denali Montoya-Sloan, a "queer, Indigenous librarian/archivist" working on the "'collective emotional, intellectual, and spiritual experience of creating' the new Visitor Contact Station at the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in northern Maine."

Another is Virginia Espino who is developing "intimate histories of working-class Latinx, Afro-Latinx and Indigenous people in Los Angeles with the goal of recovering and recording the experiences and rebellious ideas that inform the ordinary lives of women who are invisibilized when not stereotyped."

The Oral History Association website says they're using taxpayer money to make "significant contributions to decolonizing the field of oral history through developing inclusive networks, methodologies, and stories" such as "a multimedia history of the Black Panther Party’s Oakland Community School" and a "new blueprint for institutional approaches to collecting inclusively and intersectionally."

The OHA's "intersectionally" is likely a misspelling of the Leftist concept of "intersectionality."

The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan and $1.2 trillion infrastructure deal were pivotal in superheating the economy which has led to record-high inflation and a likely recession.

Jay Greene, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, sent a statement about the Oral Historians to Fox News Digital: "No one was willing to voluntarily pay for these oral historians," he said, "so there is no reason for federal bureaucrats to decide this is a better use of money than allowing taxpayers to keep it to pay for the rising cost of gas, rent, and groceries."
