Following a failed attempt to get his $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill dubbed the "Build Back Better Act" passed through Congress, Biden met with lawmakers on Friday to preach compromise between parties.
As he was finishing up meeting with Democratic leaders, Biden addressed reporters outside of the Capitol Building.
"… You're asking a thousand different questions and they're all legit. I'm telling you, we're gonna get this done," Biden told a crowd of reporters yelling questions to him.
As he turned to enter the building, reporters started shouting "when?" in regards to the timeline, with Biden responding, "It doesn't matter when. It doesn't matter whether it's in six minutes, six days, or six weeks. We're going to get it done."
Another reporter shouted, "why has it been so challenging to unite the party?"
"C'mon man," Biden said. "Unite the party, 50-50, I got it."
Following meetings, Representative Pramila Jayapal told reporters when asked about her response to the president, "he is the president and he is wonderful. And he was really clear that we need to get both bills done. And that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna get both bills done."
When asked if both bills are still tied or would be addressed separately, Jayapal said "he was very clear, the two are tied together… But we need to get this reconciliation bill. And and you know, it's gonna be tough, like, we're gonna have to come down in our number, and we're gonna have to do that work. So we're gonna get to work and see what we can get to."
