President Joe Biden's approval rating has taken a hit as the public finds his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic less than stellar.
According to a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll released on Monday, Biden's approval rating has dropped 10 points, from 62 percent in June to 52 percent in August. 43 percent of people surveyed disapprove of Biden's job, which has been staked on controlling the pandemic.
Congress has also taken an approvals hit, with its approval rating dropping 9 points, from 55 percent in July to 46 percent in August.
While approval for Democrats is sinking, Republicans are not benefiting from that, with both parties facing a rise in their disapproval ratings.
The Hill reports that the percentage of Americans who think the country is on the right track is also down. 53 percent of those surveyed in June thought America was on the right track, compared to 47 percent now.
Optimism for the US economy is also down, with 49 percent of Americans now saying it is on the wrong track, up 7 points from the 42 percent who believed that in June.
However, most voters do think the US economy remains strong, with 53 percent stating that, versus 47 percent who say the economy is weak.
Co-director of Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll Mark Penn said that the latest numbers seem to show that Biden's post-inauguration "honeymoon ... is officially over."
Penn added, "Overall the country has come down from its mood highs as the Delta variant is putting a crimp in America’s plan to party now and go back to work after Labor Day."
