On Monday, two children died and a baby was left clinging to life after attempting to cross the US-Mexico border across the Rio Grande, becoming the latest victims of Biden's border crisis.

As NBC News reports, authorities recovered the bodies of the three children from the Rio Grande in two separate incidents on Monday.

The first took place on Monday afternoon. According to Chief Manuel Mello of the Eagle Pass Fire Department, a 3-year-old boy and 2-month-old baby were pulled from the river by border patrol agents after being brought across by a group of migrants.

CPR was administered, but for the toddler, it was too late. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The baby was quickly taken to a hospital in nearby San Antonio, and remains in critical condition.

According to Mexico's National Institute of Migration, the second incident involved a mother and daughter from Central America. The agency explained in a statement on Tuesday that members of the Grupo Beta Ciudad Juárez responded to reports that the duo had been "swept away by the current" of the Rio Grande.

Upon being located, the mother explained that the current had ripped her daughter from her arms and carried her downstream.

The child's lifeless body was recovered minutes later near binational marker 30.

Encounters with illegal migrants have risen to unprecedented levels, with 2022 set to become the worst on record, with two million recorded.

Border states have pleaded with the federal government to do more to stop the flow of illegal migrants, who make a treacherous journey to gain border access.
