Saturday marks President Biden's final day in the Middle East after a trip that found him asking Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman to increase oil production to help America with its energy needs, but Saudi Arabia responded that they don't have much oil to give.
Fox News reports that the Saudi prince told Biden that his country was "almost tapped out on increasing oil production" and that "they will not have the capacity to produce beyond 13 million barrels per day."
Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) also said Biden's unrealistic energy policies will lead to higher inflation. "Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said on Saturday more investment was needed in fossil fuel and clean energy technologies to meet global demand, and that unrealistic emission policies would lead to unprecedented levels of inflation," Reuters reports.
"Adopting unrealistic policies to reduce emissions by excluding main sources of energy will lead in coming years to unprecedented inflation and an increase in energy prices, and rising unemployment and a worsening of serious social and security problems," Prince Mohammed said.
"The US is going to remain an active partner in the Middle East as the world grows more competitive," Biden said to reporters in Jeddah on Saturday. "It's only becoming clearer to me how closely woven America’s interests are with successes in the Middle East. We will not walk away to leave a vacuum to be filled by China, Russia or Iran."
"We will seek to build on this moment with active, principled, American leadership," Biden further said.
Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec posted on Twitter, "The MBS fist bump and Brittney Griner situation both highlight the same issue. Biden is impotent on the world stage and no one has any respect for America under his regime. This is why the regime focuses on domestic dissidents so much. It's the only people they can control."
President Biden drew criticism for fist bumping MBS after rebuking the leader in the past for his participation in the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. WNBA player Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia for months over a drug possession charge and could go to Russian prison for 10 years.
In March, it was reported that middle east leaders from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates frequently decline calls from the current US President.
Biden had said in June that he didn't intend to ask MBS for more oil despite saying in the same speech, "I hope we see them [The Saudis] in their own interest concluding that makes sense to do" and "I've indicated to them that I thought they should be increasing oil production generically."
When he took office Biden pushed for more green energy and closed pipelines which were bringing much needed energy into the U.S. As a consequence gas prices and inflation are at historic highs.
During his Middle East trip, Biden stopped in Israel and had a gaffe-filled visit, and then journeyed to the West Bank before landing in Saudi Arabia to ask for more oil.
