Border Patrol agents working in the Rio Grande Valley this week have detained and arrested two known gang members and a migrant with a previous child sex crime conviction.

The sex offender in question is a citizen of El Salvador, and was arrested on Wednesday. He had been Texas in 2018 for indecency with a child by sexual conduct and sentenced to five years probation, but was not deported. In 2019, he was arrested in Houston - where he had been living with a fake name and fake papers, for stalking and child abuse, according to Fox News.

He was deported after his arrest in 2019, and on Wednesday he was apparently trying to get into the country again when he was found and arrested. He was traveling with a group that included a 7-year-old girl, and had an oustanding warrant.

Also on Wednesday, a confirmed member of the notorious MS-13 gang was caught in McAllen, Texas, with previous deportations on his record. He was traveling in a group of three.

O Tuesday, in La Joya Texas, a female member of the 18th Street gang was also arrested and deported. She had had multiple deportations on her record as well, the last one being in Aug. 2021. She had been traveling in a group of six people which reportedly had been avoiding agents at the border.

In total for fiscal year 2022, there have been 110 gang members arrested at the border so far. For fiscal year 2021, the grand total was 348, and in fiscal year 2019, it was up to 976. Many people are speculating that the numbers are down because the border agents simply can't keep up with the influx any more.
