A Boston man who allegedly attempted to have his wife and her boyfriend killed was arrested on Tuesday morning after the hitmen he hired turned out to be federal agents.

Mohammed Chowdhury, 46, had shared an extensive amount of information with the undercover agents, including the couple's work and home locations, work schedules, and photographs. He had also given them very specific instructions to kill them in such a way that could not link the murder back to him, according to a press release from the United States Attorney's Office.

Chowdhury's hunt for a contract killer began around November 2022, when he reportedly hired a man who subsequently ran off with his money without completing the task. At this point, Chowdhury requested the help of another individual to follow through with the murder.

"It is alleged that Chowdhury subsequently told the individual that he needed the murder done as soon as possible and that he would get the money to do so, even robbing a store if necessary to obtain the funds," the press release read.

This individual contacted law enforcement, who subsequently contacted Chowdhury under the guise of being a contract killer.

Chowdhury met with the undercover agents multiple times between December 2022 and January 2023, explaining that his wife wouldn't let him see their kids, and that he wanted the men to beat and rob his wife and her boyfriend so that he wouldn't be a suspect.

"So how we gonna disappear his, uh, body?" he allegedly asked the agents, stating to them that there has to be "No evidence. No evidence. No evidence from like, you know, that, uh, I did something, you know?"

Finally, on January 17, Chowdhury met with the agents, agreeing to pay the $500 deposit and confirming that he wanted the couple murdered.

He left that final meeting in handcuffs.

The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts charged Chowdhury with one count of murder-for-hire.

If found guilty, Chowdhury faces up to 10 years in prison.
