On Tuesday morning, emergency services responded to an explosion at Seneca Petroleum in Illinois.

At least one person has been confirmed deceased and another was transported to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said that initial reports indicate the explosion, which occurred in the Chicago suburb town of Lemont, may have been from an asphalt tank.

Some power lines came down during the explosion, with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and local utility company ComEd being called to the scene.

Fire personnel believe that there is no hazmat situation and there is no danger to the public.

Footage showed damage to several of the facility's circular tanks, with debris on the ground, a railing hanging from multiple tanks, and power lines visible on the top of a damaged pickup truck, according to the Associated Press

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
