The Taliban shut down the internet Sunday in Panjshir valley, where resistance forces hold a last stand against them in Afghanistan. The action has purportedly prevented former vice president Amrullah Saleh from sharing his messages on Twitter.
The Panjshir headquartered resistance isn't for Panjshir but for the whole country. The Afghan national flag is in full mast & hoisted in govt buildings. Our resistance is for rights & value. The non Talib Afghs are politically, emotionally & sentimentally w/ the Resistance. https://t.co/DGSPP8o3PW

"The Panjshir headquartered resistance isn't for Panjshir but the whole country," tweeted Saleh earlier this week. "The Afghan national flag is in full mast & hoisted in [government] buildings."
"Our resistance is for rights [and] value. The non-Talib [Afghans] are politically, emotionally & sentimentally [with] the Resistance.
Let's overcome fear and stand for the right. The global community & in particular the western civilization has a lot to lose. A lot if it keeps running away. It isn't about my presidency but not giving up to extremists & terrorists. https://t.co/RRMleQq3yf

"Let's overcome fear and stand for the right," he continued. "The global community [and] in particular the western civilization has a lot to lose. A lot if it keeps running away."
He said his message isn't about his presidency. It is about not giving up on extremists and terrorists.
Panjshir is the only Afghanistan province that has not yet fallen to the Taliban. Several Taliban opponents have gathered in Panjshir, including Ahmad Massoud, the son of legendary Afghan rebel commander Ahmad Shah Massoud.
After former Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani fled the country on August 15, Amrullah Saleh declared himself the "legitimate caretaker" president of Afghanistan as per the country's constitution.
However, Saleh's claim has yet to be recognized by any country or international body, including the UN.
