The Ford cabinet is exploring more options for Ontario lockdowns, including a province-wide curfew, according to the province's Solicitor General.
Ford's cabinet has been meeting "regularly," and all options are "on the table," including a curfew, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones said on Thursday. Modelling is expected to be released Friday as Ontario experienced a record 4,736 new cases reported Thursday.
Jones said that implementing a curfew would bring about its own challenges, noting that she was worried about an increasingly frustrated populace.
"I am concerned about the riots in Montreal," said Jones, referring to the two days of rioting that occurred in the city following the CAQ government's decision to return the city's curfew from 9:30 pm to 8 pm amid climbing cases.
Cabinet is also expected to consider further restrictions to what workplaces can open, according to the Toronto Star.
If implemented, Ontario would become the second province to put itself into a curfew. Quebec has been under a curfew since January 9, 2021.
