After the app was booted from Apple's App Store in January, the big tech company has determined that the social media app will be allowed back on the App Store.
Apple said that Parler had made necessary improvements to their app that will allow the social media platform, which is popular with conservatives, to be better able to detect and purge "hate speech and incitement," according to CNN.
Apple sent a letter to Congress on Monday letting them know about their plans to allow Parler to be reinstated in their store, and for users to restore their downloads of the app.
In the letter was sent to Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rep. Ken Buck, it was revealed that Parler "has proposed updates to its app and the app's content moderation practices." Apple told Parler that these changes would allow their return to Apple's iOS.
It read that "Apple anticipates that the updated Parler app will become available immediately upon Parler releasing it," CNN reports.
Parler was accused of having been the primary place where the Capitol riot of Jan. 6 was planned. This proved to be untrue, and it was revealed that much of the planning took place on Facebook. Nevertheless, the app was booted from Apple's App Store, Google Play, and Amazon removed the platform from its cloud servers.
Prior to the Capitol riot, Parler made over 50 referrals to the FBI regarding violent content on their platform. As recently as March 10, Apple had denied Parler's request to be reinstated.
The reinstatement is a boon to free speech advocates.
