BREAKING: Biden blames 'ultra MAGA,' Putin for economic woes

"I never expected, let me say this carefully, I never expected the ultra MAGA Republicans who seem to control the Republican Party now, to have been able to control the Republican Party."

President Joe Biden spoke on Tuesday from his special "press" set on the problem of inflation and the economy. His garbled speech, meandered from recollections of his father to blaming Republicans, who have neither a controlling majority in the House or Senate. Biden also repeatedly attacked Donald Trump, who hasn't been president since early January 2021.

Biden appeared to be running against the GOP as opposed to giving his plans for reducing inflation and consumer costs, as he tried to express his views that were garbled restatements of his belief that corporations don't pay enough in taxes, the GOP is too oppositional, and that Russian President Putin is at the root of the inflation problem.

During the gaffe-filled speech, Biden referenced MAGA, or Make America Great Again, Trump's slogan, and the banner under which the GOP is currently formed, as well as what his administration has begun called the "ultra MAGA."

"Look at their agenda," he said, noting that perhaps he'd put it up on a website.

Biden's speech-making style, of interspersing actionable policy plans with anecdotes, has become particularly confusing. In saying that he wanted to give a speech about solutions to fix the economy, he first began with what he sees as the causes, notably, the Covid-19 pandemic, and secondly, the war in Ukraine.

As for solutions, Biden said that the US needs to export more food, but is having trouble doing that because of Putin. Another solution, he said, is for the Senate to approve his nominee for the head of the Federal Reserve.

"I agree with what Chairman Powell said last week, that the number one threat is the strength, and that strength that we've built is inflation. So the Fed should do its job and it will do its job, I'm convinced, with that in mind," Biden said after noting that inflation was the biggest issue the nation faces.

As to a plan from the Democrats, he said he'd like to "lower the every days costs for hard-working Americans, and lower the deficit" by asking companies to not price-gouge, and to "pay their fair share in taxes."

In contrast to that, he said Republicans want to raise taxes on the middle-class and cut taxes for the US companies. Biden presented this as a choice for Americans, then blamed Putin for the high cost on oil. He touted his release of more than 200 million barrels from the US oil savings account, the Strategic Oil Reserves, and said that "home-grown bio-fuels" would be introduced.

Sustainable energy is also a big thing for Biden, as he's continuously said, noting that there would be tax-credits given to those corporations that create renewable energy, and for home-owners who make their homes "more efficient." Biden said that energy companies are on-board with this as well, saying that it would lower energy costs for families.

Biden offered a plan to have energy companies pay taxes on unused leases on federal land. "The average cost of a barrel of oil has been steady for weeks," Biden said, "so why do gas prices keep going up so high?" Biden suggested that oil companies should be taxed on leases on federal land that they are not using presently to drill for oil.

He blamed Republicans for the cost of energy, and said that currently, Americans are "subject to the whims of dictators halfway around the world."

Biden explained that drug prices need to be lower, and that Medicare has to be able to negotiate lower drug prices, as the VA does for military drug costs.

Supply chains are also an issue, Biden said, explaining that when manufacturers don't have the materials they need to make products, they are unable to make them. This is why there are housing shortages as well, he seemed to say.

"We haven't had enough truckers for example, to deliver the lumber, to deliver the goods," Biden said. The administration apparently has a plan to create more truckers, though that was not explained.

Biden is also looking to create competition in the meat processing industry, and said that "easing bottlenecks" is a big part of his plan.

"All of my plan is focused on lowering costs for the average family in America, to give just a little bit of breathing room," Biden said. Republicans want to raise taxes and lower your income, Biden said.

Biden called this the "ultra MAGA" agenda.

While Biden said that this is "not your father's Republican Party," he also said that the GOP is harping on the same old plans to eliminate social security and Medicaid.

He claimed the GOP would use these social safety-net plans as "hostages" every five years. "I can't believe that the majority" of the GOP support Senator Rick Scott's plan, Biden said.

"My plan attacks inflation and grows the economy," he said, contrasting it to a plan from Senator Scott to give Americans a pay-cut.

Biden can "taste" American's frustration, he said, noting that it was over "gridlock in Congress," and then he blamed the "MAGA Republicans."

He told reporters he would only answer questions about the economy, and when a reporter asked how he felt about Americans blaming his administration, he admitted that the Democrats do hold both houses of Congress as well as the White House, but that Republicans are still to blame.

"They understand, but they don't," Biden said of Americans. He claimed that "Most people, the vast majority of Americans are hoping that their government just takes care of their problem. And they don't have to think about it in detail at the dinner table. But right now it's confusing because we're in Ukraine, and they're scratching their heads like 'what the heck is Russia doing? Should we be helping?'"

And Biden went off on a tangent, saying most Americans want to spill American weapons and cash to help Ukraine fight Russia.

Biden continued to press for his plans for sustainable energy.

"I never expected, let me say this carefully, I never expected the ultra MAGA Republicans who seem to control the Republican Party now, to have been able to control the Republican Party. I never anticipated that happening," he said.

As to a question on whether or not he should "resign" to fix inflation, Biden joked "resign, that's a good idea."
