Joe Biden has picked Kamala Harris as his new Vice-President following a long-awaited announcement.
I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.

This comes as Senator Kamala Harris was thought of as one of the frontrunners in Biden’s Vice-Presidential race. Biden was initially scheduled to announce his veep choice in mid-July.
Other candidates being considered for the position were national-security advisor Susan Rice, Representative Karen Bass, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Val Demings, Senator Tammy Duckworth among others.
In March at the last Democratic primary debate, Biden said that if he could win the presidential nomination then he’d pick a woman for his running mate.
This marks the third time a woman has been chosen by a major party to fill the number two spot.
Kamala Harris made headlines on Monday after many outlets reported that she had unfollowed Biden. Some said she had never followed him in the first place while others said it may be a glitch.
Kyle Kashuv, a TPM contributor tweeted, "It’s real. But it also might have the opposite meaning of what we think. Not sure, might be an ethics violation. So her official senate account had to unfollow the political campaign account."
