Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked President Joe Biden questions about inflation on Monday afternoon at a White House event, and instead of answering, the commander-in-chief, while shaking his head, muttered, "What a stupid son of a b*tch." It was unclear if Biden knew his mic was still live.
"Do you think inflation is a political liability…in the midterms?" Doocy reportedly asked Biden, according to Deadline. "That's a great asset. More inflation," Biden preluded the sarcastic reaction. Biden's scathing statements were heard when masked members of the press, including Doocy, were ushered out of the room.
Reacting to the viral clip making its rounds in the media, CNN's Jake Tapper said that Biden's hot mic moment "seemed a little bit more blatant."
"The microphone was literally right in front of him," Tapper laughed on the left-wing network. "It's not as though he was walking in the back room and he forgot he had one clipped on his lapel. It was right in front of him."
Doocy is frequently a thorn in the White House's side, asking tough questions that neither the president nor his press secretary want to answer.
During another press briefing, the president had lashed out at Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich for asking a question about Ukraine and Putin.
Biden had mocked Heinrich last week after she asked the president about the administration's foreign policy strategy against Russia amid escalating tensions.
"Why are you waiting on Putin to make the first move, sir?" Heinrich shouted from across the room. Biden chuckled to himself and mumbled, "What a stupid question," quiet enough that it wasn't picked up by some audio feeds. When the press pool left the auditorium, Biden's response was captured by audio engineers.
Biden has also made headlines in recent weeks for gaffes and misspeaks while members of Biden administration have been caught on hot mic disparaging political adversaries. Dr. Anthony Fauci called Republican Sen. Roger Marshall a "moron" after getting into a heated exchange regarding financial disclosures.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
