A NATO helicopter has crashed in the ocean west of the Greek mainland on Wednesday evening according to Global.
Greek Defense Military Forces (GDFM) say that a CH-148 Cyclone took flight from a Canadian frigate and crashed in Greek waters 20 nautical miles from take off.
The Canadian Armed Forces has confirmed that a search is underway:
1/2 Developing situation regarding our CH-148 Cyclone, deployed onboard HMCS FREDERICTON, which is currently contributing to Op #REASSURANCE.

Contact was lost with the aircraft as it was participating in Allied exercises off the coast of Greece.
Global reports that "Canadian military leaders are in high level meetings trying to figure out what happened, following an initial lockdown on communication with media as the early reports emerged.
Six passengers are reported missing. It is currently unknown as to whether there are Canadians on board, or whether the helicopter was Canadian.
According to the GDMF, the copter was serving to provide NATO with "immediate operational response capacity."
NATO search and rescue teams have been deployed west of the Kefalonia islands where the helicopter crashed.
