Sources have learned that former Prime Minister of Canada, John Turner has died. Sources say he passed away peacefully on Friday evening.

Sources have learned that former Prime Minister of Canada, John Turner has died. Sources say he passed away peacefully on Friday evening. He was 91 years-old.

John Turner was the 17th prime minister of Canada, serving a short term from June 30 to September 17, 1984. He was preceded by Pierre Trudeau and proceeded by Brian Mulroney. The Liberal leader, continued serving as Leader of the Opposition from September 17, 1984 – February 7, 1990. Although his term was short, he gained notoriety for battling free trade, and is fondly remember as a Canadian patriot.
