At least three police officers have been shot by a prisoner being transported in a police vehicle. One officer is reportedly seriously injured, according to the Chicago Police.
The prisoner was being transported to the 25th District police station at Grand and Central on Thursday morning. The prisoner was then shot multiple times outside of the police station. The prisoner's condition has yet to be made public.

A source told the Chicago Sun that the suspect was handcuffed from the behind, managed to get his cuffs in front of him while in transport, and shot the officers in a secure interior area where suspects are transported between the vehicle to the station.

One officer was transported to Loyola Hospital, where he had a surgical procedure.
According to Law Enforcement Today, one officer was shot in the neck, while others were shot in their protective bullet proof vests.
It is not known how the prisoner had a weapon.
