Musk stated in the tweet, "Excited to announce that I’ve a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops."
In December, Musk posted a poll asking users if he should step down as the head of the company, and noted that he would abide by the results of this poll
"Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll," he wrote. After 17 million votes, “Yes” beat out “No” at 57.5 percent to 42.5 percent.
On Friday, former Twitter CEO and founder of the platform, Jack Dorsey, said that Musk is not the best leader for the site that he founded.
"No," Dorsey answered after being asked if Musk was the best leader for Twitter. "Nor do I think he acted right after realizing his timing (of the purchase) was bad. Nor do I think the board should have forced the sale. It all went south."
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
