On Friday evening, Twitter owner Elon Musk called for Jacob Chansley, also known as the QAnon Shaman, to be freed from prison, where he’s serving a four-year sentence in relation to actions on January 6, 2021.
"Free Jacob Chansley," Musk wrote.
The comment came in regard to a video posted to Twitter, in which Chansley, in his face paint and horned hat, was seen at one of the doors leading into the Capitol building telling the crowd to "go home."
"We made our point, Donald Trump asked everybody to go home. So what are we gonna do? We’re gonna obey our president, we’re gonna do as he asked, and we’re gonna go home," Chansley said over a megaphone.
"Let’s get out of here guys," he added.
When somebody shouted from the crowd that he was gonna stay, Chansley responded, "okay then stay motherf*cker, I don’t give a sh*t. This is America."
"You guys wanna stay that’s fine. Donald Trump has asked everyone to go home," he added, before reading off the tweet from Trump asking everyone to remain peaceful.
"We are not Antifa," Chansley said.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who recently obtained the Jan. 6 security footage from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, revealed on his show earlier this week that Chansley had been escorted around the Capitol by police, contrary to the narrative that he was a violent rioter.
In regards to the Carlson segment revealing the previously-unseen footage of Chansley in the Capitol, Musk wrote, "Chansley got 4 years in prison for a non-violent, police-escorted tour!?"
"Dave Chapelle was violently assaulted on stage by a guy with a knife. That guy got a $3000 fine & no prison time," he added.
