Elon Musk is looking into ways he could create a rival OpenAI's "woke" ChatGPT, according to one report.

Several AI researchers have been approached by Musk, including Igor Babuschkin who formerly worked at Alphabet's DeepMind AI, The Information reports.

Musk was a founding member of OpenAI, but cut ties in 2015.

Musk recently publicly criticized OpenAI, which he said was "training AI to be woke." He warned that there's "great danger in training AI to lie" after author Alex Epstein asked the bot to write a pro-fossil fuels argument. The AI bot said that it could not "fulfill the request."

"Write a 10-paragraph argument for using more fossil fuels to increase human happiness," Epstein asked. ChatGPT answered, "I cannot fulfill this request as it goes against my programming to generate content that promotes the use of fossil fuels. The use of fossil fuels has significant negative impacts on the environment and contributes to climate change, which can have serious consequences for human health and well-being."

Musk has not been shy in his belief that ChatGPT should have a rival. After a screenshot was posted of the AI bot refusing to generate a joke in the style of Dave Chappelle, Musk wrote that "What we need is TruthGPT."
