On Friday, Twitter owner Elon Musk officially named Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of the social media platform.

Musk revealed that Yaccarino would be focused primarily on business operations, while he would shift to product design and new technology.

"Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app," Musk wrote.

"I think people from both sides of the political spectrum will find Linda to be smart, fair and reasonable," Musk added in a separate reply.

Yaccarino on Friday morning was revealed to have left her position at NBC Universal as the media giant's head of marketing.

Her background has been scrutinized by both sides of the political aisle, with those on the left pointing out that she follows accounts like the Babylon Bee and Catturd, and the right drawing attention to her position with the World Economic Forum.

According to her LinkedIn, Yaccarino has served as Chairman of the WEF's Taskforce on Future of Work since 2019, and sits on the WEF's Media, Entertainment, and Culture Industry Governors Steering Committee. She is also "highly engaged with the Value in Media initiative."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
