On Wednesday afternoon, five people who worked for an environmental response consulting firm were killed when the plane they were traveling in on their way to a metal factory explosion site in Ohio crashed.

Everyone on the plane, including the pilot, worked at the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health, and were en route to a fatal explosion that occurred earlier this week at a Bedford, Ohio metal manufacturing plant, according to the Daily Mail.

The twin-engine plane they were traveling on crashed around noon on Wednesday, within a mile of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, where they had taken off just moments before.

The group reportedly specializes in environmental data collection and incident management, especially in terms of industrial toxicology and hygiene.

The area where the plane went down was reportedly experiencing high winds and thunderstorms at the time of the crash.

Dr. Paul Nony, senior vice president of CTEH, told the Daily Mail, "We are incredibly saddened to report the loss of our Little Rock colleagues. We ask everyone to keep the families of those lost and the entire CTEH team in their thoughts and prayers."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
