BREAKING: Explosion rocks downtown Seattle, hazmat crews, bomb squad deployed

Police confirmed reports of an explosion in Seattle, Washington, on Wednesday.

Police confirmed reports of an explosion in Seattle, Washington, on Wednesday. 





The explosion occurred at around 9:30 am, the Seattle Police Department said. Crews evacuated the building in which the explosion occurred in the basement. No active fire was found at the scene. A Hazmat crew is also responding.

Police told KOMO News that officials are working to diffuse a "device" that was found on scene.

Fire crews have established a one-block perimeter around where the blast occurred where only officials are allowed to cross. 



One person was taken to hospital in serious condition.
