The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that Federal authorities revealed that the deadly Capitol Hill attack on Jan. 6 may have been partially coordinated using social media platform Twitter.

The AP reported that: "Defense and National Guard officials, including McCarthy, have said in interviews over the past several days that they were told by DC that they believes the protests would be similar to the ones of Nov. 14 and Dec. 12. And they said that federal law enforcement authorities said that there was activity on Twitter, but that they weren't expecting the level of violence they ultimately saw last Wednesday."

In the wake of the Capitol Hill violence, which left five dead, the conservative-leaning social media platform Parler was roundly blamed by pundits and politicians alike for being a place where it was assumed that the events were planned.

Google, Apple, and Amazon each took a stand against Parler, removing it from their app stores and servers, respectively.
