It seems that the Ford government will not be implementing a curfew on Friday.

A source confirmed to CP24 that the Ford press conference penned for 2:30 pm on Friday will not include the announcement of a curfew, despite the province having another record-setting day in cases, logging nearly 5,000 on Friday once again.

Other public health measures were discussed, however, including the shutting down of construction projects deemed non-essential, and fining businesses who refuse to let eligible employees work from home.

The curfew option was mentioned yesterday by the province's Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, who said that implementing a curfew would bring about its own challenges, noting that she was worried about an increasingly frustrated populace.

"I am concerned about the riots in Montreal," said Jones, referring to the two days of rioting that occurred in the city following the CAQ government's decision to return the city's curfew from 9:30 pm to 8 pm amid climbing cases.
