Premier Doug Ford addressed media on Monday, as cases in Ontario continue to rise. Monday saw the announcement that there were 313 new positive tests, a high that has not been seen since June.
"We all know that a second wave is coming. We see it all over the world. This virus is still among us. And it's spreading ... It's up to the 14 million people in this province," said Ford.
Ford said that all options were on the table in tackling on the pandemic, including more lockdowns.
"Today's numbers are cause for concern for all of us. Let me be crystal clear: every option is on the table. We will take every step necessary, including further shut downs," said Ford.
"It's a scenario we've been preparing for all summer long," said Ford, saying that the province was in much better shape to take on the pandemic than they were during the virus's first boom.
Ford would go on to beg the people of Ontario not to go to social situations. Ford said that a lockdown this time around would go at a region-by-region basis, rather than a sweeping lockdown.
