In a Monday morning tweet, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for a "national divorce" between red states and blue states.

"We need a national divorce," Greene wrote. "We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government."

"Everyone I talk to says this," Greene added. "From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done."

Greene has previously issued a similar call, issuing a poll to her Twitter followers in October of 2021 asking if America should have a "national divorce."

A majority of the poll takers stated that Republican and Democrat states should stay together, at 47.7 percent, with 43 percent stating that red and blue states should separate. 9.3 percent were undecided.

Greene clarified two days later that a national divorce would not be a civil war "like Antifa/BLM incitement over the past few years, it’s a civil legal process."

"It’s a real issue bc Americans don’t like communism," she added.

Following the poll, Greene wrote a Twitter thread explaining her thoughts, stating that "So many people tell me daily how devastated they are over the state of our union on every level, and I completely share their utter disgust & heartbreak for the condition of our country."

"In just 9 short months, Joe Biden and the entire Democrat party has ruined so many people’s lives and destroyed our country so badly that 43% of Americans want a [National Divorce] and want to split btw Republican and Democrat states," Greene added.

Greene said that "This should be the warning siren to all of us that America is on a path to irreconcilable differences."

Greene brought up the issue again in December of that year, stating "You know what is necessary about threatening a divorce? It’s a wake up call to the one offending the other that they’ve had enough. And if the other party cares at all, they look at what they are doing wrong and care to fix it."

"National Divorce is not civil war."

Likening it to a marriage, Greene stated that happy marriages are the result of two "committed people working together resolving differences and changing behavior that hurts the other."

"But the state of our union is currently far from happy, and I really don’t care how many Democrats I offend by calling it out," Greene continued. "For your information, you like our red states BECAUSE of our politics and it’s OUR Republican politics that create the very environments you like."

Greene said she would not apologize for thinking or discussing ideas "that stop Democrat voters and donors, who are moving out of the sh*tholes they created with their Democrat votes and donations, from ruining GREAT red states by bringing your disastrous ideas and destructive votes with you."

Greene said that she doesn’t want a national divorce, but added that what she would "not tolerate is Democratic Communism. Leave your blue votes in your blue states."
