The Philadelphia District Attorney announced formal charges against 18-year-old Miles Pfeffer on Sunday, the man arrested for the fatal shooting of a Temple University police officer in Philadelphia, and further details have emerged about Pfeffer's alleged crime.
According to local CBS News, "Pfeffer will be charged with murder, murder of a law enforcement officer, robbery, carjacking, firearm offenses, possession of an instrument of crime, and related offenses. The DA's office also adds that 'Pfeffer is ineligible for release on bail.'"
Pfeffer was arrested in Buckingham Township, in Bucks County, Penn and was transferred back to Philadelphia by police. The shooting happened near 17th Street and Montgomery Avenue on Saturday night and Officer Christopher David Fitzgerald, 31, was identified as the victim.
CBS reports that Pfeffer is alleged to have shot Fitzgerald in the head. As the officer lay on the ground fatally wounded, Pfeffer is alleged to have searched his pockets and attempted to rob him of his firearm.
After the shooting Pfeffer allegedly committed a carjacking at a location nearby.
Local Fox reporter Steve Keeley tweeted out the full list of 24 charges that include Murder and Criminal Homicide of a Law Enforcement Officer and confirmed that the incident was captured on surveillance video.
The video reportedly shows the officer chasing the suspect.
The suspect then turned around and opened fire on the officer. As the officer lay on the ground Pfeffer allegedly tried to remove the officer's firearm from his holster.
The suspect then fled and carjacked another victim and the footage reportedly has him saying, "Give me the keys or I’ll kill you." The accused killer's brother was reportedly with him during the incident with Officer Fitzgerald and law enforcement told Fox, "He ducked into an alley & hid, and saw the officer chase Miles Pfeffer and then he heard gunshots."
This story is breaking and will be updated.
