Legendary rocker Neil Young's music will be removed from Spotify following an ultimatum over sharing a platform with Joe Rogan.
According to the Wall Street Journal, a source close to Spotify says that Young is refusing to budge on the matter.
On Monday, Young released an open letter demanding that his music library be removed from the site, due to Rogan's hosting of certain vaccine experts.
"I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them, Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule," Young wrote.
"I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. They can have Rogan or Young. Not both."
"With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, JRE, which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence. Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy," Young concluded.
That letter has since been pulled, and Young has continued discussion with his label and Warner Records.
Rogan, the world's largest podcaster, signed a deal with an estimated $100 million with Spotify.
