A Hawkesbury, Ontario doctor has been charged with first-degree murder after a string of suspicious deaths.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they were called to the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital Thursday after what they say was "a string of suspicious deaths."

Dr. Brian Nadler has been charged with first-degree murder and will appear in court on Friday

Dr. Nadler's lawyer told CTV News that the doctor maintains his innocence.

"Our members were called in from the Hawkesbury OPP detachment to investigate a suspicious death at the hospital," said OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson to the Ottawa Citizen.

Police said the string of events occurred "recently," and that all deaths occurred in-hospital.

"Once officers commenced the investigation into the suspicious death they were called to, evidence and information led them to expand that to look at more than one death," Dickson continued.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hawkesbury OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Those with information may also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at Crimestoppers.ca.
